In the late 1970's Colin and I worked at MHTR. We had opened an office in Edmonton that I managed. As project engineer on most of our projects, occasionally Colin would visit our facility. At or about the same time he was working at developing our pedestrian level wind studies into viable service for designers. During one of his visits a wind storm hit the Edmonton area. We headed to the downtown core to experience first hand the strength of these winds at the base of tall buildings at McCauley Square. We stood at the corner of one of these buildings where the wind was so strong we could hardly stand. Like two kids, we stood leaning into the wind to see if it could hold ourselves up if we leaned into it. Unfortuneately the wind speeds fluctuated so that we could not stand. The speed would decline causing us to fall to the ground. I can't help think what passers by would have thought we were going. The sort of thing one would expect to see during frosh week at university. However, we both had graduated many years before.
Colin you will be missed.
