Remembering Ronnie

1. I'm up a pole out pass the Salem school working the weekend and it's snowing and blowing and along comes the grader plowing away and it stops and Ron rolls down the window and says "Do you want a drink"? So I climbed down and hopped in the grader with my spurs and belt on and had a drink with him before he set off down the road again. 2. I'm with Dad at the Elora legion and go to the washroom and I hear somebody retching. I look around and out comes Ron and he says "Just making more room"! 3. The safety inspector is at the work centre in Guelph and left his car parked in the way of Ron's truck in the garage. The next thing the safety guy is running out of the hoist area and to his car and moving it in a hurry. Around the corner comes Ron with a big grin and a wink saying something like "I set him straight. He was not working safely". 4. The guys who were linemen and worked with Ron said one time he rolled from one pole to the next on top of all the wires that ran between the two poles. They were looking all over for him. They said he did this quite often. 5. The cable splicers were all a bunch of characters at Bell. Stu Lantz was the oldest and Ron would call him rickety back to which Stu would reply and address Ron as sway back. The world has lost a real character.
