The Memorial Candle Program has been designed to help offset the costs associated with the hosting this Tribute Website in perpetuity. Through the lighting of a memorial candle, your thoughtful gesture will be recorded in the Book of Memories and the proceeds will go directly towards helping ensure that the family and friends of Michael Munro can continue to memorialize, re-visit, interact with each other and enhance this tribute for future generations.

Thank you.

Condolence From: Patrick Rogers
Condolence: Cathy and family: so sorry to hear of your loss - I chanced upon this obit. I flew with Mike on the DC-8 on and off for a couple of years. We did the "round the world" cargo flights and he was always great company and a gifted pilot. One day we got out to Singapore airport and Mike realized he had left his passport in his hotel room! We had a cab pick it up and we left on time! A very nice fellow and he will be missed.

Condolence From: Chuck Almasy
Condolence: My heartfelt condolences to Mike's Family and friends.
He was an old friend and colleague who I haven't been in contact with for many years. Even so, he left a lasting impression from those early years with Air Canada and some great memories too.
May he rest in peace.

Condolence: We are so saddened to hear of the passing of Mike.
We have not connected in years however we will always remember him as a good friend with a great sense of humour. We remember the long lazy days at Killbear Park visiting him on his boat and he and his family visiting us at our campsite.
We will miss this true gentleman and fellow aviator.

Condolence: Dear Munro Family,

I was saddened to learn of Mike's passing. I remember him being a supportive 820 parent when I was in the squadron with Stephen and Robert, and he also flew with my father and grandfather over the years at Air Canada.

A memory of Mike that comes to my mind was him escorting us on a tour of the Bombardier facility at Downsview, and after the tour guide earnestly and incorrectly described how the traffic collision avoidance system would 'rip the controls right out of the pilot's hands' to avoid a mid-air collision, Mike quietly chimed in to a few of us "I sure wouldn't fly it if that's how it worked."

Now that I have returned to the Air Cadet League as a volunteer, I have a new appreciation for how much the program relies on the support of parents such as Mike.

With sympathy,

Stephen Thomson
