The Memorial Candle Program has been designed to help offset the costs associated with the hosting this Tribute Website in perpetuity. Through the lighting of a memorial candle, your thoughtful gesture will be recorded in the Book of Memories and the proceeds will go directly towards helping ensure that the family and friends of Mathys Splinter can continue to memorialize, re-visit, interact with each other and enhance this tribute for future generations.

Condolence: I have known some of Mathys' children for decades from times at Acton HS and now St Andrew's in Fergus. Family relationships have been so important for them all---that closeness is to be admired for sure. What a legacy your Mum and Dad have given you -for the years lived here and for beyond too. You will miss your Dad indeed but guess there are so many wonderful memories and laughter that remain among you all...A Dad makes a big impression on who we are--you had a good one. May you all gather and support one another and celebrate a fine fellow who was with you for a long time. Blessings be there. Dave Jones

Condolence: Dear Tante Winnie and Family,

My sincerest sympathy goes out to you all and know that you are in my thoughts. I enjoyed chatting with Uncle Thys and joking with him. On the few occasions I saw him.I fondly remember what great pals he and my dear Mum (Maud) were.

I will be with you in spirit tomorrow and Friday. I am sorry that I cannot be there with you.
Daryl and I will hopefully see you all one day in the future.

We in the meantime hold you in our thoughts.
Barb and Daryl

Condolence From: Kristine, Collin, Blake and Emma
Condolence: We know that Thys is at peace and looking down from heaven at his loving family who are gathered together at this difficult time. Thys will always be remembered by our family as a quiet and kind gentleman. When he and Winnie would visit us on Brophy's point at my mothers home he would be sitting quietly, often with his eyes closed resting, but always listening to the conversation and surprising us with a witty comment that would make the room burst with laughter. He was very patient and he and Winnie worked together as a team to give so much to their family, friends and community. Even though Thys was not the centre of attention in the room he touched all those who had the pleasure of spending time with him and he will always be remembered. We send our love and prayers to the Splinter family. Love Kristine, Collin, Blake and Emma.
