Marjorie Elizabeth Madill (Tipping)

After a long life well lived, Marjorie Elizabeth Madill passed away peacefully in her 98th year, on November 30, 2019 at the Wellington Terrace, Elora.

Predeceased by her husband of 66 years, Benson Madill (2013).

She is lovingly cherished and remembered by her daughters and sons in law Bessie & Alan Simpson, Harriston and Shirley & Jim McFarlane, Guelph.

Loving grandma to Don Simpson (Nicole Young), John Simpson, Jeff (Kara) McFarlane, Rob (Holly) McFarlane, Martha (Tysson) Amidon. Special great grandma to Samantha (Wayne) Holst, Taylor Simpson, Desiree Simpson, William McFarlane, Thomas McFarlane, Alexandra McFarlane, Luke Amidon, Benson McFarlane, Victoria McFarlane and 9 great great grandchildren.

Dear sister of Ina Noble. Predeceased by her brother Jack (1986) sisters Myrtle (1985) & Rena (1983) and twin baby brothers Cecil and Bertram (1913) and her parents Alfred and Myrtle Tipping (1978).

Marj was born in Cooksville, Ontario on February 22, 1922. She worked at Small Arms in Port Credit before her marriage to Ben in 1947. She then farmed alongside her husband Ben on #10 highway South of Brampton for 62 years before moving to Fergus to be closer to family. Marj was an active member of Britannia United Church and U.C.W. She led 4-H Homemaking Clubs for many years. Marj and Ben together were faithful volunteers with the Friends of the Britannia Schoolhouse for many years and supporters and members of the Clock Collectors Association, The Cast Iron Seat Association, the Peel Historical Society, the Mississauga Historical Society and the Milton Steam Era. She shared with family and friends her love of baking, canning, sewing, knitting, gardening, and playing piano and organ. All contributing to a life well lived.

The family is thankful for the excellent care given to Marj during her time at Wellington Terrace. And deeply grateful for her special PSW companion, Donna, for her care and dedication to Marj over the past 5 years.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Wednesday, December 4, 2019 at the Graham A. Giddy Funeral Home, 280 St. David St. South, Fergus at 11:00 a.m, with lunch to follow. Visitation will be held from 1:00 – 3:00 p.m. Donations may be made in Marj’s memory to the Alzheimer Society. A spring interment will be held at a later date.
