Condolence From: Kate and Brian Alexander
Condolence: Our hearts are truly saddened by the news of John's passing. We found out today when one of our other former neighbours contacted us.

Doreen, our thoughts and condolences are with you and your family. We've missed you and John since moving out to BC and we so appreciated the help you both gave us. It was such a delight to see you both when I returned for a visit to Ontario in September.

John was one of the few people with whom Brian could "talk cars", hobbies, and life. John was beyond the epitome of a gentleman. He was a truly intelligent, knowledgeable, caring, gentle man. We were proud to call him our friend.

Condolence: A number of years ago, I accepted a position at Sheridan College to work in the Skilled Trades program. I was a Chemical Engineer who was to work with a group of Skilled Trades men. I was totally out of my league. On arrival, the second person I met was a fairly tall man with a big smile and a welcoming handshake - John Shaw. I felt much better. He made me feel at home.

In life we talk about greatness in individuals. But greatness depends on the measuring stick we use. If the scale is one where we look at teaching and nurturing young people to gain skills and abilities that permit these young people to earn a good living and become positive contributing citizens in their community then John was very high on the measurement scale.

John taught his students well. But he was also generous with his time. He was always willing to teach me so that I better understood the work that Skilled Tradespeople did on a daily basis. I was grateful for his assistance.

It was my pleasure to have known and worked with John! He will be missed!

Condolence From: James and Lorna Dallimore
Condolence: Dear Doreen, Lynda(Lyle) and John(Jennifer), grandchildren Christine(Derek), Adam(Kelly), Cody(Michele) and Taylor.
It was with great sorrow that we heard of John's passing. We have many great memories of him through my association with the Optimist Club of Georgetown ( now Halton Hills) which he was a member of. When we came to live in Halton Hills, John had been a member for quite a while. I was sorry when you and John moved to Fergus. I took over the bingo run in Acton when John left the club.
Doreen we hope that we can see you next time we are in Fergus.
If you are in our area, come over if we are here. Our phone number is 905-878-0500.
Our hearts are sad.
Jim and Lorna Dallimore ( Optimist Club of Halton Hills)
