Obituary

After many battles, Jim lost the fight. Surrounded by the love of his family, he left to be with his wife and soulmate Jean (nee MacLeod 2018). Survived by his doting daughters Catharine Hinton (Steve), Michelle Zacchigna (Michael) and Lynda Garrow. Beloved grandfather of Kiersten, Danielle, Ashley and many nieces and nephews. A man with many interests, Jim invented a solar panel, which was patented in 1976. In addition to their active life and treasured circle of friends in Fergus, Jim and Jean spent 28 winters in Florida, adding many more friends and wonderful memories. His laughter and sense of humour added to his magnetic personality which was unique and loved by all. Private family service to be conducted. Due to Covid-19, there will not be a public visitation at this time. When we can all hug again, there will be a celebration of life. In lieu of flowers, donations in Jim’s memory can be made to The Summer Shuffle Club, The Elora Lawn Bowling Club or a charity of your choice. www.grahamgiddyfh.com

What a wonderful life led by a wonderful man. He was blessed with a great partner, family and friends. Being good friends with Lynda, we were fortunate to have many interactions with Jim over the years at ballparks and on someones deck. His sense of humour was unique and no one understood it better Joe because his was close to the same. Jim and Joe could have conversations that had us baffled and asking for interpretations, please. If Jim had had a son, it would have been Joe. Our hearts and thoughts are with you all.

I did not have the privilege of knowing Jim personally, but enjoyed so much the lively personality of his dear daughter Michelle. A very very close friend of my niece Trudy Smith. I know how devoted Michelle was to her dad and offer her, her siblings and children, my sincere condolences. June Hirlehey , rest in peace Jim.

As far as Father In Laws go, I would have to say he was the best one, and only one I ever had. Liked him from the first time I met the man, we were a lot alike which at times scared me. Just for the record I let him win at Euchre only because it was the right thing to do. Besides I think he cheated most times. All kidding aside I will always remember the cottage, Fergus, Jim and Jean. Even though we had lost touch due to circumstance, he will be remembered, and that sense of humour. You had to understand Jim to get his humour and I understood. Rest in Peace Dad, and one day we will have that brew again or golf game. Again I think he cheated most times, but hey it is what it is. Judy and I extend our condolences to Michelle, Cathy, and Lynda, and all family. Rest in peace Jim now you are united with Jean looking over your family..........
