Sheila Mitchell-Berthiaume
Dear David, Cheryl, Darlene, and Karen,
I am so sorry to hear about the loss of your Dad.
How blessed I think you all were to grow up in that house... what a fun place it always was for me! A tree house in the big willow
tree in the backyard with a super cool zip-line, guinea pigs, a pool, great crawl space forts made by Darlene, and parents that always welcomed friends!
I remember many road trips in the rabbit, and then the mini-van. The wonderful thing about the mini-van was every time you got in it there was always a new improvement! I remember when Karen was learning to drive there were constant safety upgrades! The mirrors kept multiplying, and extending!.. and there were lessons on how to use them before departure.
What great pride and pleasure your Dad would take in fixing things and working on his projects.
Your Dad enjoyed people.. it seems a simple statement but he was truly interested in how you were doing and what was going on in your life, and he had the patience to listen.
Generous in spirit, your Dad treated me like the 5th child I often was in that house and I will be forever grateful for that.
In the tough times ahead, I hope you find strength in each other and comfort in the many great memories of your father.
with much love,
Sheila
