Obituary for Harry Robert "Bob" Spencer

passed away peacefully on September 7, 2013, at his Belwood home during his 84th year. Devoted husband to Beverlee Fielding since 2008, and previously for 45 years to the late Merilyn Spencer (anniversary date September 7, 1957). Beloved father of David, Cheryl, Darlene and Karen, father in-law to Doug, Sverre and Joy. Cherished grandfather to Patsy and Freeman. Caring brother to Morgan, and the late Doug, Gord, and Doris.
Bob enriched the lives of many as a high school teacher for The Peel Board of Education at T.L. Kennedy S.S., and was instrumental in providing co-operative education job placements for many students. He was always an advocate for the well being of others, and thrived on engaging in social conversations. He was a member of the Fergus and Brampton Probus Clubs, and volunteered for his local Rogers Community Cable station. He enjoyed many happy times camping and canoeing with his family, and often found ingenious ways to repair anything electronic that landed in his home workshop. A true gentleman, Bob will forever remain in our hearts.
Special thanks to those PSWs and RNs from Bayshore Nursing Community Care Access who showed tender, compassionate and dignified home care for Bob throughout the summer. Visitation for friends and relatives will take place at Graham A. Giddy Funeral Home in Fergus, 280 St. David South Street, on Thursday Sept 12th from 5:00 -8:00 pm. Funeral Service and Celebration of Life to be held at St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church, 325 George Street West, on Friday September 13 at 12:30 pm. Interment at the Elora Cemetery, refreshments to follow in the Church hall basement. If desired, charitable donations in memory of Bob can be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation.
