Obituary for Wilma Jean Jamieson (Pattison)

Wilma was raised in Fergus, by Anson and Ethel Pattison. She married Norman Jamieson in 1942 and made a home on the Jamieson family farm in Lower Nichol. Loving mother to Pat (Harold Richter), Ken (Judy Grominsky) and Paul (Lynda Oakman). Wilma was predeaced by her husband in 1972, her brothers Lorne and Sam Pattison, daughter-in-law Judy in 2015, and her granddaughter Karen Newport in 2020. Following her move back to Fergus and the death of her husband, Norman, Wilma worked at Groves Memorial Hospital and went back to school graduating from the University of Toronto as a dietary supervisor. Mom had many interests in her life,… she was a dedicated member of the Women’s Institute working her way through the ranks to the position of Ontario Vice President. Mom was a lifelong member of Melville United Church mastering the art of making pie pastry. In the early days, she was a 4H leader and a CGIT leader as well as Sunday school teacher. After retiring, Mom travelled extensively taking lots of photos that she used to make presentations to the WI and other service groups. Wilma passed peacefully at the Chartwell LTC home in Elmira where she had been a resident since 2013. She will be missed by her grandchildren Chris and Jeff Jamieson, Katharine, Jenn and Liz Richter, and Carey Hutchinson as well as her six great grandchildren, Carter, Alexis, Callum, Kaitlyn, Blake, and Louie. Mom had a full and rich life which included, most recently, her 100th birthday party with congratulations from the Queen and several dignitaries. Memorial Service for Wilma will be conducted at Melville United Church, 300 St. Andrew Street West in Fergus, on Saturday, August 27th, 2022 at 1:00pm, followed by reception.
