Obituary for William Frank "Bill" WILSON

At Caressant Care Nursing Home, Arthur on August 17, 2004, formerly of R.R. #1 Belwood in his 92nd year. Bill is predeceased in 2002 by wife Jean (nee Semple) of 61 years whom he married on November 22,1941. Dear father of Myrna Austen and her husband Harry of Cookstown, Joanne Lystar and her husband Jim of London, and Doreen Wilson and her husband Ron Melanson of Crossfield, Alberta. Loving grandfather of Paul, Michael, Heather and Chris Austen, Kimberley Weaver, Lindy and Tricia Lystar, Kyle and Bret Gerrie. Great grandfather of Trevor, Ryan, Cole, Andrew, Sydni, Claire, Lucas and Nathan. Survived by sister Jean Hutchinson of Fergus and sister-in-law Evelyn Wilson of Arthur. Bill is also survived by a number of nieces, nephews, other family members and friends. Predeceased by brother Jim (1966). Bill farmed for many years on the family homestead located on the 5th line West Garafraxa Township, first with his father and brother, then with his wife Jean. He was a faithful member and elder of Dracon United Church. After Dracon closed, he joined St. John's United Church in Belwood. He also served on the Mt. Carmel Cemetery Board. Bill served on the committee of adjustments and licensed dogs for the Township of West Garafraxa prior to being elected as counselor in 1976. He retired from council in 1985. Music was always a joy in Bill's life. He sang in the Dracon choir and in later years with the Singing Seniors. Friends will be received at Graham A. Giddy Funeral Home and Chapel 280 St. David Street, South, Fergus on Wednesday, August 25,2004 from 2-4 and 7-9 PM. A celebration of Bill's life will be held at St. John's United Church, Belwood on Thursday, August 26, 2004 at 2:00 P.M. In lieu of flowers, donations would be appreciated to the Heart & Stroke Foundation, the Canadian Cancer Society or St. John's United Church, Belwood.
