In his 78th year, passed away peacefully on July 17, 2012 at Groves Memorial Hospital with his loving family by his side. Lovingly remembered by his devoted wife Rosemary of 52 years, son Daren and Heather Dobbie, daughter Dianne and Fanosie Legesse. Loved ”Grumpa” of Taylar, Odessa, Luke and Solomon Dobbie and “Poppa” of Zach and Lydia Legesse. Brother of Janet and Ross Cress, Margaret (Peg) Seller, Thomas (Bud) and Joy Dobbie and Nancy Fletcher. Brother- in- law to Pam and Don Woodhams. Fondly remembered by his nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his parents Thomas and Bertha Dobbie, his brothers-in-law Jene Seller and Ron Fletcher and in-laws Dora and Edgar Smith. Bill was born in Fergus where he stayed, worked and lovingly raised his family. In his younger years he was a bowler, hardball pitcher and avid golfer. Bill was a lifelong employee of Beatty Bros./GSW Ltd in Fergus. In his retirement years Bill “Speedy” was kept busy driving to suppliers for Upper Grand Refrigeration. Special thanks to Dr. Petrov, Dr. Easterbrook and the wonderful nursing staff on the 1st and 2nd floor at Groves Memorial Hospital. Bill loved to tease and greet people around the town with a joke and a smile. He will be missed by his many friends. There will be visitation on Friday, July 20th, 2012 from 2:00 - 4:00 and 7:00 - 9:00 pm at the Graham A. Giddy Funeral Home & Chapel, 280 St. David St. South in Fergus. A funeral service for Bill be held on Saturday, July 21st at 11:00 am, at Bethel Mennonite Church- 6772 -8th Line W, Elora. Interment will take place prior to the service.
