Obituary for Wayne Douglas Vaughan

It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden death of Wayne Douglas Vaughan on November 22nd, aged 64, at his home in Linwood, Ontario. Husband of Lynn Patton-Vaughan, dad to Olivia Vaughan, Dylan and Jessica Vaughan (Harmer), Grandpa to Kaci Vaughan. Son of Marjorie Vaughan and Clarence Vaughan (predeceased), brother to Eleanor and Mick Mather (predeceased), Larry and Linda Vaughan, Judy Rioual, Bonnie and Ron Bullock and brother-in-law to Lori Patton and Rob Wright.

Wayne was a fierce family man. He had a special place in his heart for children, especially his own children, their friends, his granddaughter and his nieces and nephews. He will be remembered fondly by them for the extra attention he took to joke with them or help with a special project. Wayne’s happiest times were those surrounded by his loved ones celebrating a holiday or at the cottage sharing a drink by the bay with friends and family.

Wayne was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping and boating, especially at the farm or cottage. He loved to be up early, get out on Georgian Bay with a coffee and watch the sunrise with his fishing line in the water.

Wayne will be remembered as a hard working man who was dedicated to his job and coworkers. His work ethic was also visible in his projects at home and at the cottage.

The family would like to express their deepest gratitude for all the love and support they have received during this difficult time. They would like to acknowledge the first responders, especially the Linwood Volunteer Firefighters. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Make a Wish Foundation of Kitchener-Waterloo or the ALS Foundation of Canada. Wayne will be remembered at a celebration of his life on Dec 1st at the Linwood Recreation Complex at 1:00 pm followed by a reception between 2:00-4:00 pm.

Arrangements are entrusted to The Graham Giddy Funeral Home, 617 King Street North, Kitchener, Ontario.
