Obituary for Vincent Peter Merry

Merry, Vincent Peter
Oct 27, 1970 – Feb 8, 2022

Passed away leaving his loving wife Heather Merry(nee Cholewka) of almost 22 years
and his children Bridgette and Arielle Merry. Vincent will be sadly missed by siblings Chris Merry(Kate Dawson), Elizabeth Nagel(Vern Nagel) and nephew Matthew Dawson.
He also leaves behind his mother Mary Hofbauer and was predeceased by his father John Merry. Vince will be remembered by his parent in-laws Doug and Anne Cholewka, brother-in-law Chris (Heather) Cholewka, sisters-in-law Faith (John) Boggs and Katie Cholewka, nieces Ashley and Nicole Cholewka and nephew Sebastian Mammoliti. Vince loved his family deeply. The joy he took in his girls knew no bounds. He always made sure that everyone knew about their latest adventures and achievements, and always recounted them with a mixture of love, wonder and pride. He was a strong, confident, kind man who could always be counted on. He was loved and admired by friends and family for his intelligence, keen wit and sage advice. He had a knack for finding the truth in any situation and bringing it out in a way that brought laughter and learning together. He was a wonderful teacher who could effortlessly hold a classroom full of children in rapt attention, and he sent his students home at the end of every day smarter than they were when they arrived that morning.

Vince was a natural athlete. He excelled at any sport he played. He was a force of nature on the lacrosse floor, and when he imposed his will on a game, it seldom ended in the opposition's favour. Later in life, he took up Enduro motorcycle racing, and won an Ontario divisional championship. There will be a Mass for Vincent being held at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Fergus on Saturday February 19, 2022 at 11:00am. His casket will be buried in the spring at Hutcheson Memorial Cemetery in Huntsville. In lieu of flowers the family would appreciate donations being directed to either the Arthritis Society or The Canadian Mental Health Association. Arrangements are entrusted to The Graham Giddy Funeral Home, 280 St. David Street South in Fergus. (519)843-3100 www.grahamgiddyfh.com
