In Loving Memory of Robert (Bob) Chester Shaw
February 15, 1939 - February 6, 2022
With both sadness and appreciation for his wonderful life, we would like to announce that our Dad,
Bob Shaw, passed away on February 6, 2022. He has joined our Mom, Pauline (Eccles), who he has dearly missed after she died in 2013. Dad and Mom met at Mount Forest High School and were happily married for 53 years.
Dad grew up on a farm in Arthur Township with his parents Margaret and Chester and siblings, Les, Lorraine, and Ross. Many in the Wellington County area would know Dad for his accomplishments in sport and barbershop singing, his contributions to work at Bell Canada and his involvement in community activities.
Dad was a top fastball pitcher in the Ontario inter-city league for Guelph and known to dominate diamonds in Rockwood and Fergus. He graced local stages and churches as the lead singer in the Royal City Ambassadors and well-known quartets, Area Code 519 and The Journeymen. He was often seen in the ice hockey arena cheering for his three sons playing triple A, junior and university hockey. He was a coach, cub scout leader, and choir member. And his competitive spirit led to many family backyard championships in horseshoes, pool, ping pong, and diving.
Most will know Dad for his good-natured, positive attitude. He had a special ability to make close connections and was devoted to his family and friends. Dad has passed on his strong family values, amazing memories and his favourite wilderness retreat and fishing hole “Camp Buck” near Foleyet, Ontario.
Bob was father to Kelly, Larry and Craig. Father-in-law to Debbie, Mylisa and Anne Marie. Grandpa to Jason (Stephanie), Claire (Josh), Connor (Annika), Shayne, Riley and Brodie. And Great Grandpa to Avery and Elliott.
We love you Dad. Thank you for all you have given us.
