Dear Eileen, Karen and Linda and all family members, It was a real shock to learn of Bob's passing this past Saturday. Our work lives at U of G were intertwined for many years and he contributed tremendously to what I and many, many others were able to accomplish over the nearly 40 years he devoted to the Agmet program at the University. In the book "Sustaining Ontario's Land Resources - A History of the Department of Land Resource Science" we read: "Bob was eager to help with all who sought his advice with instruments, computing or weather data and set a very positive example that often require a commitment well beyond the call of duty. The field working conditions at Elora, Borden or Kinoje often were challenging but Bob handled them with distinction." For sure he worked hard, accomplished much, and was a very valuable member of our group. I am really glad that we were able to talk together this past June when Jon Warland and Claudia Wagner-Riddle organized a trip to Elora to see her new lysimeters being installed and then we had lunch together. It was great remembering things that we had worked on together. My sincere condolences and sympathy go to you at this time. Ken King
