Obituary for Raymond Stanley Wiseman

Raymond Stanley Wiseman passed away peacefully in his sleep on October 9, 2022 at the age of 89. He was predeceased by his wife and partner of 63 years, Anna (Clayton) Wiseman and his brother Harry Wiseman and sister Shirley (Wiseman) Wood. Ray is survived by his four sons David (Cheryl), Brian (Joan), Alan (Karen), Ken (Star), eight grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren.

Ray took pride in a lifetime of education with its modest rural Alberta beginnings to completing his BA much later in life. He liked to say he had 4 careers: radio/television technician; pastor; missionary; and writer. During the course of his writing career, with his wife and editor, Anna, at his side, he travelled the world and completed books including biography, fiction and instructional. He also wrote columns for the Guelph Mercury and mentored other writers.

In the last few years he claimed that he was going to outlive his half-sister who lived beyond one hundred. Sadly, he was unable to achieve this goal, but he did live long enough to bring meaning to the lives of many. He will be missed.

A memorial service will be held at St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church in Fergus, Ontario on October 22, 2022 at 11:00.
