Unexpectedly at his home in Toronto on Wednesday, November 7th, 2007 at the very youthful 80 years of age. Ray has gone ahead of his loving wife Eva Janecek-Rucker of Toronto, daughter Debbie Ostic (Jeff) of Fergus and son Randy (Jennifer) of Calgary. He provided love and inspiration to his six grandchildren, Lauren, Courtney and Chris Ostic of Fergus and Sean, Jason and Jamie Rucker of Burlington. He was a wonderful brother to Rudi and his wife Judith of Nipissing and uncle to their three children Karen (Tom) Penwarden of Cambridge, Jane of Calgary and Gwyn of Newmarket. He was loved and admired by Eva’s parents Rudi and Vera Novak of Warsaw, Ontario and her brother Tom (Lenka) of Prague, Czech Republic. Cremation has taken place. A family celebration of Ray’s life took place at Debbie and Jeff’s home on November 11th and will be followed by a reception at Eva and Ray’s home in Toronto on November 17th. Ray led a life filled with love and laughter and a deep appreciation of family, friends, and the earth, to all of which he gave his love and attention unconditionally. Donations in honour of Ray’s passionate nature may be made to Friends of the Earth, Sierra Legal Defence or the Salvation Army. Arrangements were gratefully entrusted to the Graham A.
