Obituary for Ralph Matthews

Born in Downton, England 16th Aug. 1920 and died in Fergus, Ontario 11th Nov. 2010.He is survived by his wife Monique(Gervais), daughters Lynn(Ruigrok) and Gail (Sneddon), son Robert Bruce, three grand daughters Janet, Patty & Melissa, grandson Jeremy and three great grandsons Dylan, Matthew & Brandon.Ralph was born and educated in England, immigrating to Canada in 1947.He served in W.W. II as a pilot in the R.A.F. from 1940 to 1947. First as a flying instructor, then doing his “ops” on Lancasters with 149 Squadron, 3 Group. On reaching Canada he continued his pilot’s career as a Business Pilot until retirement in 1982 as Chief Pilot of Gulf Canada in Toronto.He has lived in the Elora/Fergus area since 1982 for all but 3 years.Ralph’s wishes were to have his family, long time friends and Fergus-Elora friends gather together in celebration of his life. The family welcomes Ralph’s friends to join them at The Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 275, Fergus on Sunday, November 28, 2010 between the hours of 1:30 pm and 4:30 pm.
