Obituary for Peter Anderson

At the age of 79, died peacefully in his sleep on Saturday April 2nd, 2011 at the Wellington Terrace Long Term Care Home in Fergus, Ontario. Beloved and caring husband of Caroline Anderson (Nee: Vokey). Loved by Caroline’s children Pam (Ric) Champagne, Gayle (Glen) Bailey, Mark (Shelly) Champagne, Leigh (Paul) Buckingham, Karen (Brian) Flewelling and David (Jane) Champagne. As well as 17 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren, sister-in-law Louise Anderson, and all his nieces and nephews who all loved him dearly! Predeceased by his former wife Patricia, daughter Penny, son Paul and his brothers Bob, Bill, Ken and John. Peter will be greatly missed by his friends and family. Son of the late Ella May and Richard Ernest Anderson. Peter was born on January 7th, 1932 in the Beach area of Toronto, Ontario. Peter graduated from Ryerson Collegiate and worked in the construction industry for most of his career ( Armbro Construction, General Manager in the Asphalt Division, followed by Ferpac Paving, and then his own company, Abcon Construction). Peter retired in the early 90’s and enjoyed traveling as well as spending his winters basking in the sun in Destin, Florida. He also enjoyed golfing, reading, nature, history and reading his National Geographics, as well as spending time with his family and friends. His good nature won the hearts of many people. Peter enjoyed his life to the fullest and had a bright outlook on whatever life dealt him. The family will receive friends at the Graham A. Giddy Funeral Home & Chapel, 280 St. David St. South, Fergus on Thursday, April 7th 2 – 4 and 7 – 9 p.m. A funeral service for Peter will take place at Faith Evangelical Lutheran Church, 290 Belsyde Ave, Fergus on Friday April 8th, 2011 at 1:00 p.m. As expressions of sympathy, donations to Sick kids Hospital, The Alzheimer’s Society or ARC Industries would be appreciated, cards are available at the funeral home (519) 843-3100, www.grahamgiddyfh.com.
