On Sunday, March 21, 2010 at Groves Community Hospital, Muriel Frances Towriss of Elora died surrounded by her loving family and bathed in the love of her all who knew her. Muriel was born May 13, 1921 to David Moir and Margaret McGladrey in the same community of Elora where she lived her long and valued life. In 1948 Muriel married Harry Towriss who predeceased her in1979. Muriel was the cherished mother of Colonel Towriss (Linda) of Pembroke, Sharon Clark of Fergus, Barbara Shortreed (Steve) of Fergus, Bonnie Callen (Jerry) of Guelph Eramosa, Eleanor (died 1976) and Ken Towriss. She will be missed by the grandchildren who were the heart of her busy life: Jimi, Angela, Amanda, Adam, John, Tanya, Andrew, Lillian, Chris and David and her great-grandchildren Jimi, Connor, Lydia, Damien, Tristan, Ethan, Owen, Jenneca, Allanah, Sophie, Miles, Cole and the late Ave. Muriel will also be missed by her many special nieces and nephews including, Shirley Ann, Joyce, Marilyn, Jim, Dorothy, Bill, Harvey, Mary, Faith, John, and Charles. Her friends, family and Melville St.neighbours are welcome to join her children for visitation at the Graham Giddy Funeral Home, Elora on Tuesday, March 23 from 2 – 4 and 7-9. A celebration of her long and wonderful life will take place at the funeral home on Wednesday, March 24 at 11 am followed by burial at the Elora Cemetery where she will lie for eternity beside her daughter and husband.
