This is just one of countless memories and stories about Gram & Papa. My dad is really the story teller of the family but I will give it a whirl.
Way back when there were only 2 grandchildren, My sister Amy and I, Gram & Papa had these family friends named Marylou & Clark and they had a cottage we called the shack. Papa liked to go for country drives and Gram liked to do most anything, so they would go to the "shack" for the day and take Amy and I .One of those times, on the drive back home, we had to stop at the store for bread and "ciggers".
Well if you know Gram & Papa, you know they loved to tease each other and banter constantly. Papa had some of his signature lines which you will recognize in a few more sentences.
Anyway, we get to the store and its dark outside and Gram has her window down and she seems to be star gazing out of her rolled down window. Papa gets out of the car and he comes around over to her side and he is standing there. So she looks at him and he looks at her and he says "Well?" so she responds with "Well?' then she says "Bread & ciggers" but he is still standing there. So she again says "Well?" He then (with his hand out and fingers taking turns curling in like as if to say give me) says, "Money". To which she pipes up and feeds him one of his signature lines......."I'm not a mind reader you know"
HAHAHAHA!!!! This was typical of the two of them, but you just know she was satisfied with giving him a dose of his own medicine so to speak!!!
