To all the family:
We have many fond memories of your mom. She always had such a sweet smile and whenever we saw her she always made you feel comfortable in their home. Since we drove an hour to church, we had many an invitation for dinner after and it was always delicious. Sometimes we spent the afternoon with them and went to church again in the evening and sometimes we stayed overnight. We remember one time she had made a pie for dessert and as I was eating it I said "This pie has a funny taste." I asked Ken if his pie had a funny taste and he said yes. I asked your dad and he said it was fine. Your mom had a concerned look on her face and then I said, "Martha, this pie has a funny taste. It tastes like more." You should have seen the look of relief on her face!
We appreciated your mom and dad's many years of faithful service to TEAM through the prison ministry. We also appreciated their prayerful/financial support while we were out on the road ministering in the truck stops. They shared in the transformation of many lives over the years.
Her love of family was always evident and she spoke fondly of you all. Since we moved to New Brunswick we would call on birthdays and their anniversary and she'd tell us about family gatherings. She was proud of her family. Life is a chain of memories and we encourage you to summon back your warmest memories. You can relive them many times.
Your mom loved the Lord and her faith was strong. She was a blessing to us (and many others) and we'll always treasure her encouraging words. Her journey has ended and she is now with the One she has faithfully served for so many years.
We are praying for you and your dad who will miss the love of his life for almost 72 years.
Love in Christ,
Ken & Judy Barker
