Obituary for Marjorie Irene Marriott

Recipient of the "Order of Niagara"Passed away peacefully in the presence of her loving family and in the comfort of her own home, on June 28, 2008, in her 85th year. Predeceased by her beloved husband William Clement Marriott. Dearly loved mother of William of Elora, Gloria Canning and her husband Peter of Elora, Mark and his wife Joanne of Ottawa, and Michael, of Kitchener. Predeceased by her daughter Elizabeth Anne and infant son Peter. Cherished Nana to John, Peter, Matthew, Jessica, Tyler, Kyle, and Nicholas. Dear sister to Joan Lucas. Predeceased by devoted parents, Harold and Mary Elizabeth Seaman, as well as her dear brothers Dennis and Ronald, all of England. Marjorie is survived by a number of much loved nieces and nephews, also in England. Marjorie married William Marriott in 1949, after serving in the British Land Army during World War 2. In 1953 they immigrated to Winnipeg, Manitoba to begin a new “adventure”. In 1961 they settled in Elora, Ontario, where they attended St. John the Evangelist, Anglican Church. During her faithful membership at St. John’s Church, in Elora, Marjorie served 2 terms as the Rector’s Warden and thoroughly enjoyed serving many years with her husband on the altar guild. Marjorie was known for her beautiful arrangements of altar flowers and her wonderful festive displays that frequently adorned the church. In 2007, she was honoured by the Anglican Bishop with the “Order of Niagara”, recognizing decades of faithful service to the Church. Until we meet again…. We love you Mum. We will dearly miss you. “See you in the morning!” The body will lie instate at St John the Evangelist (corner of Smith and Henderson Streets, Elora) on June 29, 2008 from 2-4 & 7-9pm. Funeral Service will be held at the Church on June 30, 2008 at 2:00pm, with interment in the family plot at the Elora Cemetery. Services entrusted to the Graham A. Giddy Funeral Home & Chapel in Elora.The family has requested the expressions of sympathy be made to the William and Marjorie Marriott altar guild and floral memorial fund at St Johns Church, cards available at the Church.
