Passed away on Monday, October 7, 2019 at the age of 72. Beloved mother of Kristi Layne MacKenzie (Andrew) Riding and Kari Lanore (nee: MacKenzie) (Tim) LaPensée. Proud Grandmother of Katelyn, Kyra and Erik Riding, Sara and Nikki LaPensée. Sister of Sharon (Donald) Woodrow, Brenda (Gerry) Clayton and Glen (Lynne) Sweetman. Marilyn will be deeply missed by Aunt Marie Clarke. Predeceased by parents Arthur and Audrey Kearn and Glen Ross and Margaret (Doupe) Sweetman.

Born in 1947 and raised in the Scarborough Bluffs, Marilyn moved to Fergus In the late 1960’s. There she had 2 beautiful daughters, who gave her 4 granddaughters and one grandson whom she dearly loved. Marilyn worked at Groves Memorial Hospital as a phlebotomist her entire career. Upon retiring Marilyn volunteered her time at the Center Wellington Food bank for 8 years! Helping to look after her grandchildren in her spare time. Later in life was blessed to find more biological family! She got to live the remainder of her life with her birth father, 2 amazing sisters and a younger brother. Marilyn was Generous to a fault. She loved her friends. She had a good tribe of women in her life. Socializing was an important part of Marilyn’s life. Most of her daughter’s friends called her ‘mom’. She was an avid curler most of her life as long as her knees let her. Marilyn enjoyed watching sports. She loved a good JD Robb novel. Marilyn accepted everyone for who they were in life and she will be greatly missed.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, October 18, 2019 from 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm at the Fergus Curling Club, 148 St George St W, Fergus, ON. Words of Remembrance will begin at 2:30 pm. Donations may be made to Crohn’s and Colitis Canada or the Centre Wellington Food Bank.

Kristi and Kari: My sincere condolences on the passing of your Mom. She was a lovely person and always so much fun to be around. I remember many fun times at the Curling Club with her. I especially remember meeting her not long after she had "found" her biological family. She was so thrilled with this new adventure she was embarking on...getting to know her sisters, brother and father. Treasure all the wonderful memories you have.
