Mr. Magorium’s Wonder Emporium

I shared this story with my cousin 6 year ago, when her Mom passed away (my Aunt, my Mom's sister).  I was reminded of it today for some odd reason.  The day my aunt had passed, I was driving Sarah (my daughter) home from school.  I was trying to share with her, in an age appropriate fashion, what had happened.  There was a long pause and then she asked if those were Auntie Mary's last pair of shoes.  At first, I was confused and a bit taken back and then I remember a movie we recently watched called Mr. Magorium’s Wonder Emporium.  Not sure if you recall it but Mr. Magorium was played by Dustin Hoffman and he had purchase a lifetime supply of his favourite pair of shoes.  As the story goes, he wore the shoes daily and as they wore out he would replace them with another pair until his stock was depleted.  When he got to his last pair of shoes, it was his time to go.   It's funny how our children try to relate one thing to another.  My response to Sarah was “Yes, those were Auntie Mary’s last pair of shoes.”     So, today, I think we can safely say that Mom was also on her last pair of shoes!!  (Crocs)  LOL
