Obituary for Lucia (Lucy) Paulina Frensch (Freyee)

Frensch, Lucia (Lucy) It is with great sadness that the family wishes to announce the peaceful passing of Lucy Frensch of St Clements, Ontario on Friday November 15,2019 at The Village at University Gates long term care facility at the age of 98 years. She is survived by her children Elly Verhoeven of Strathroy, Art Frensch (Sandy) of Kitchener, Harry Frensch of St. Clements, Tony Frensch (Mary) of Kitchener and Mary Jane Merkt (Sieg) of Ayr. Cherished by nine grandchildren and twenty-three great grandchildren. Predeceased by her loving husband of 74 years Pieter, by son-in-law Bernard Verhoeven, and granddaughter Sarah Frensch. Lucy was born in the Netherlands, South Holland, in the town of Nieuveen on September 4, 1921, and was the youngest of five siblings. She immigrated to Canada in 1951 with husband Pieter and three young children. The family landed by ship in Quebec City and then onward to first settle in Stratford, Ontario. Lucy went on to have two more children in Canada. She and the family also lived in St. Mary's, Watford, Kitchener and finally retiring in St. Clements Ontario. Lucy enjoyed spending time with family and was an accomplished knitter. Mostly, and above all else, she was a devoted and loving mother and wife and will sorrowfully be missed. Lucy lived the remaining four years of her life at The Village at University Gates in Waterloo, Ontario. The family would like to acknowledge the professional and devoted staff at University Gates for the wonderful care given and friendships made with a special thanks to Shelly and Jenny. The family will receive their friends for visitation from 4 – 7 pm Wednesday November 20, 2019. At the Graham A. Giddy Funeral Homes-Waterloo Chapel, 617 King St. N. Waterloo (across from Home Depot). Parish Prayers will be offered Wednesday evening at 6:45 p.m. at the funeral home. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at the Blessed Sacrament Roman Catholic Church, 305 Laurentian Dr. Kitchener on Thursday Nov 21, 2019 at 10;00 A.M. Fr I. Koziak of St. Clements Church officiating. Followed by interment at Williamsburg Cemetery. Donations to the St. Clements Roman Catholic Church would be appreciated.
