Obituary for Lorne George Dejean

On the morning of September 28, 2021 Lorne George Dejean, of Fergus, Ontario, passed away peacefully with his family at his side, after a lengthy illness. He was 73 years old.

Lorne was born to Fred (Ted) and Norma Dejean on October 21, 1947. The eldest of three children, he and his family lived most of their years in Fergus and Elora Ontario. He owned and operated a successful horticultural business, Cedar Spring Nursery, on South River Road, Elora, for over 47 years. His green thumb along with all the amazing employees by his side (including his brother Paul Dejean), produced the most beautiful flowers.
Lorne had many passions. He enjoyed countless summer days up north at his cottage on Austen Lake Ontario, which was established and built by him and his family. He loved playing horseshoes and fishing at the cottage, having cold beverages with his Hairy Legs Social friends and flying his planes. Lorne was very skillful at the barbeque and he and his wife of nearly 40 years, (Vicky Dejean) enjoyed hosting family and friends at their home that they built at 16 Acres. Their home was always inviting, and he enjoyed having his grandchildren over and watching them play in their pool.

Lorne is survived and will be sadly missed by his wife Vicky Dejean; his children: Kerri (Tim) Wicks, Barb (Ken) Wagg; his stepchildren: Tammy (Dale) Serytuk, Kristen (Jake) Drexler; his grandchildren: Brittani and Alexandrea Duxbury, Brandon, Alana and Kaitlyn Wagg, Coby and Regan Serytuk, and Daelin, Easton and Paeton Drexler; his brother: Paul (Pat) Dejean and nephews Allan and Evan Dejean. He is preceded by death by his father and mother Fred (Ted) and Norma Dejean and his sister Marion Dejean (Peter Dunbar).

A celebration of Lorne’s life will be planned for a later date. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Groves Memorial Hospital in Fergus. www.grahamgiddyfh.com
