Obituary for Linda Louise HALL (Heffren)

After a brief illness, angels took Linda from us on a special journey on Sunday June 20, 2004. Linda Hall was in her 57th year. Beloved wife of Ross Hall, loving mother of Chris and his wife Kelly of Fergus and Gina also of Fergus. Dearest grandmother of Coulton James. Born in Fergus in 1947 to James and Winnie Heffren. Linda was the youngest child with two sisters Val and Ina and brother Earl. She had a great childhood growing up in Fergus. Her dad, James started and owned Fergus Awning in the 1940's and she traveled with her dad in the awning truck and spent many days at the shop. Linda loved water and in the summer lived at the Fergus Swimming Pool. As a second home she grew up at her sister Ina's and husband Tom's home. Almost like a sister her niece Janet Boyd has remained a best friend. Linda had many friends. Heather Menzies, Barb Pattison, Ginny Dickie and Linda Spears were very close friends from public school and still held a special bond. Linda married Ross Hall of Ariss in 1966 and bought homes in Fergus where they resided. They had two children, Chris and Gina. Linda's children were her biggest highlight in her life. Her mission was to make sure her children got to try everything. From sports, camp and she made sure her kids traveled all over Canada and the world. Every summer to the cottage in Muskoka, boating and water skiing and winter vacations in Mexico. Her children got to see how other cultures lived. Travel was Linda's passion. She loved the tropics, traveled to Mexico for the past 20 years and loved the country and people. She would move there as the Mexican people made a fuss over her since she always spoke Spanish to them. Spain Portugal, Greece and the Caribbean were some of her travel favorites. Linda and Ross always traveled every year. Linda loved flowers; her and Ross were avid gardeners. Their home had beautiful gardens, pool, streams and waterfalls. She was proud of her hanging baskets and won many awards from the Fergus Horticultural Society. She was so proud because for many years she won the award for "Overall Landscaping and Potted Plants". A gift Linda received before she became ill was her first grandson Coulton James. She was so proud and over joyed. Linda started working for the VON in Fergus, managed a Record Store downtown, then worked for the United Breeders, took time off to raise her children, then worked for the County of Wellington and for the last few years worked for Linamar at Comtech. Besides her husband and children Linda's best friend her whole life was her mother Winnie. They were very close and spoke absolutely every day. Linda made sure her mom was involved in every function. They were very big shoppers "always looking for bargains", Linda and Winnie traveled to Buffalo, Spadina in Toronto, Mexican markets since the 1960's on Shopping sprees. Family functions such as organizing birthday parties and Christmas were the utmost importance to Linda and Winnie. Please join us in remembering Linda's Life. Visitation at Graham A. Giddy Funeral Home, Fergus on Wednesday June 23, 2004 from 6-9 P.M. A private family service will be held on Thursday June 24, 2004. If desired donations may be made to Groves Memorial Building Fund or the Fergus Community Complex Building Fund.
