Veteran of WW II and also a 30 year member of the R.C.L Br 229 in Elora. Suddenly with his family by his side on Mon May 5th 2014 at his home in Elora. Lew Hornsby age 91 years beloved husband of Ethel (nee: Grose). Loving father of Phyllis Hussey of Brantford, Steven of Salem, Fran Baehnisch and her partner Dave Crandell of London and John and his wife Andrea of New Zealand. Dearly loved by his grandchildren Shannon, Priscilla, Andrew, Jenny (Nathan), Chris, Matthew and Ethan, and great grandchildren Raine, Ayden, Asha, Sirocco, Rischa, Evren and Lux. Dear brother of Bernice Hill of Elora, brother in law of Eleanor Hall of Elora and brother in law Ken Hatch of Ottawa. Lew is survived by a number of nieces nephews and other family. Pre-deceased by brother Bruce and sister Evelyn Hatch and brother in law Harvey Hill. The family will receive their friends at the GRAHAM A. GIDDY FUNERAL HOME AND CHAPEL, 37 Church Street, Elora From 2-4 and 7-9 P.M. Friday May 9th. R.C.L. service will be held at the funeral home on Friday May 9th at 6:45 P.M. Funeral service will be held at the Elora United Church, 75 Geddes Street, Elora on Saturday May 10, 2014 at 1:00 P.M. Cremation will take place after the service.
