Obituary for Laura Gray

It is with heavy hearts that the family of Laura Elizabeth Gray (nee Lloyd) announce her passing after a brief hospitalization at the Grand River Hospital, Kitchener. Pre-deceased by her husband Peter Gray (April 1998). Cherished mother of Heather Graham (Joe) and Valerie Roxburgh (Dwight). Loving “Granny” to Madelynn, Jared and Ben.

Laura was a long-time employee at Moore Business Forms, Fergus. She continued to work hard after retirement, at the Wellington Advertiser, the Welcome Wagon and Pizza Delight because she loved people and keeping busy. She also dedicated her time volunteering for the Canadian Cancer Society, Heart and Stroke Foundation and Fergus Legion Ladies’ Auxiliary. And while all of these pursuits were important to Laura, she was above all else, devoted to her family and spent a lot of time caring for and nurturing her three grandchildren.

Laura had recently moved into the retirement home at Caressant Care, Fergus and was very appreciative of how the staff and residents warmly welcomed her into “their family”.

Laura will be lovingly remembered by family and friends, as a caring, fun-loving and courageous soul, who bravely battled Multiple Myeloma for the past six years. Special thanks to her specialists and the staff at Grand River Hospital’s Hemodialysis Unit, Cancer Treatment Centre and ACE Unit, and to Dr. Stickney and his team who have always been there for our family.

In lieu of flowers, Laura’s family would appreciate memorial donations to be made to the Grand River Hospital Renal Centre or Cancer Treatment Centre, or one of the charity’s that Laura devoted her time to over the years.

As per Laura’s wishes cremation has taken place. A private interment will be held at Belsyde Cemetery. Arrangements are entrusted to The Graham Giddy Funeral Home, 280 St. David Street South in Fergus. www.grahamgiddyfh.com
