Obituary for Ken Heit

After a lengthy battle with cancer, Ken passed away on May 20th in the arms of Ruth (nee:Littlejohns), his loving companion/partner/wife of 38 years. He was 79. Predeceased by his parents Urban and Eva (Cluthe) Heit. Survived by one sister Bernice Kohan of Australia. Also children, Susan (Jim) Geisler, Belinda Burt, Graham and Trevor, grandchildren and one great grandson.Ken was a sales representative for Meyer Industrial Distributors before he and Ruth started their own industrial safety business in Waterloo. After retiring they built their dream home in Thornbury, living on the lot in their camper van for 5 months while the house was being constructed. They cleared the land and built many flower gardens with lots of help from Ken’s dear mom. They enjoyed travelling in their camper van, spending a few winters in Florida at the same trailer park as Ruth’s parents. Lots of good memories and friends were made. Uncle Ken will be missed by his 18 nieces and nephews. Thanks to the Grand River Family Health group, the Bayshore Nurses who came to our home in Belwood each day over the last several months. Also, to friends (neighbours) and family for their caring support. A very special thank you to the compassionate staff at Caressant Care Nursing Home in Fergus for the care Ken received during the last 2½ months. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to either Groves Hospital Building Fund or the Canadian Cancer Society.Cremation has taken place, there will be no visitation
