Obituary for Kelly Elizabeth Forster

On April 14th, after a lovely day with her family, Kelly Forster was tragically killed in a car accident. We are heartbroken to lose our mother, wife, daughter, sister and friend. Her 44 years on the planet were spent mostly with a smile on her face, trying to help someone else feel better. Her laugh was contagious and her personality was infectious. She leaves behind her children Reagan (9), Jack (12) and Rya (13), her husband Korb Whale, her parents Charles and Valerie Forster, her brothers Jamie (Insook) and Matt (Rynn), her nieces and nephews, Alexa, Ethan (Whale), Clint and Clark (Forster), along with several in-laws, aunts, uncles and very dear friends.

Kelly worked passionately as a registered dietitian in the field of eating disorders with the Canadian Mental Health Association (CMHA). She felt like she made a difference to her clients, and loved working with the whole team of professionals in the ED field. During her maternity leave she created a program to be delivered in primary schools called "Food for Life", that teaches kids all about food, cooking, comfort eating all foods, following your internal queues and making sure to eat all foods in moderation. It has made an impact in local schools and continues to be delivered by Registered Dietitians from CMHA.

Recently, Kelly became an ice cream maker, when she and her family began processing milk from their dairy farm called Mapleton’s Organic Dairy, near Teviotdale. Despite a steep learning curve, she had created and made some delicious treats. The highlight for her at Mapleton's though was definitely the animals. She loved animals! She has tamed and fostered dozens of kittens over the last few years, as well as a piglet, bunnies, guinea pigs, birds, lambs, calves and even a big red dog.

She will be remembered for the love of her children, her big smile and her warm sense of humour.

In lieu of flowers, the family has set up a fund to support the Food for Life program to help prevent eating disorders. https://gofund.me/bce5faa5
