Obituary for Karen Jean Bailey (Cox)

Karen Jean Bailey (nee Cox), born 2 February 1944, Daughter of late parents Don and Jean Cox. Wife of Jim, Mother to Kira (Darryl) and Robert (Laura), Sister to Carley Cameron (Bill) and Christie Tomchak (Alec), passed away in the Groves Memorial Community Hospital after a short battle with illness on 20 April 2020.

She will be remembered as someone who loved all things family, eagerly looking forward to every opportunity for the family to be together at holidays, the cottage, or special events. Nothing made her happier than reuniting the family at the house or attending family events. Her friends will remember her as someone they enjoyed endless hours with talking and laughing about everything in their lives.

Built on fond memories of her youth spending summers at the lake, and finally realising her dream of owning her own cottage there, Karen loved spending time at the family cottage on Gold Lake, kayaking, swimming, painting and celebrating sunsets with friends and family. She was truly the happiest when she was surrounded by those she loved looking out over the lake, enjoying the moment.

A talented artist, Karen was a lover of music, a musician, and an avid toll painter, her legacy will live on in the countless gifts she made for everyone in her life. Only one aspect of her boundless generosity that marked her life. Karen will be uniquely remembered as a passionate fan of College Basketball and a dedicated Duke Blue Devil fan, following their team year after year, and debating the merits of the team with anyone she could talk to.

A celebration of her life will be held in the coming months when family and friends can be together, details will be provided once known.

Donations in her name can be made to the Groves Memorial Community Hospital. https://www.canadahelps.org/en/dn/7856?
