McEachern, John (Jack) Allison - July 1, 1928 to March 9, 2021
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of John in his 93rd year. He joins
his beloved wife Audrey, who passed away just three weeks ago. They would have been
married 70 years this summer. He was the loving father to Rob (Jeanette) and proud
grandfather to Todd, Jocelyn (Miles), Shelby (Joe), Sarah (Kevin) and Brandon (Lyndall).
Great-grandfather to Matteo and Ivy. Predeceased by his sisters Alma Coulson, Margaret Hurd
and Jeanne Wilson, and will be missed by many Smith, Wilson, and Hurd nieces and nephews.
Jack was born in Erin and lived almost his entire life in Orton. He and Audrey built their house in
the 1950’s and it was evident he took great pride in his property. He worked as an electrician
and in 1949 founded McEachern Electric. He continued working and lending a helping hand in
the family business into his eighties. Jack was an active member of St. Andrew’s Presbyterian
Church in Hillsburgh, The Masonic Lodge in Erin, the Orton Community Association and the
Grove Cemetery. John had a love for standardbred horses and owned many race horses over
the years, including his longtime mare, Only-A-Rosie, and family favourite Gretzky Lavec. John
enjoyed tending his vegetable gardens (growing enough potatoes to last them a year!), walking,
reading the paper from cover to cover in the sun porch, traveling and winters in Florida.
We would like to thank Dr. Easterbrook and the staff at both the Highland Manor and
Groves Memorial Hospital for the compassionate care they’ve provided John and Audrey
over the past few years. In lieu of gifts or flowers, donations to the Groves Memorial
Hospital, the Grove Cemetery or Parkinson Canada would be greatly appreciated.
