John went to be with His Lord and Saviour after having walked faithfully with Jesus for many years.John was the beloved husband and best friend of Rita (nee Poot) dear father of Natalie Marx (Rafael), John David (Susie), and Naomi. Stepfather to Yvonne deVries (Frederick) & Paul Kok (Marie Noelle). John was a fun-loving grandfather to 12 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren. He had special “adopted” teenage sons who were influenced by his love and hard work ethic. He was also adored by many other children who trusted him to drive them to school each day. He will be greatly missed by all. John’s unwavering faith and love for people was a source of inspiration and encouragement to everyone he met. He never complained even when the road was difficult and obstacles stood in his way. His desire was to enjoy peace and harmony with everyone he met and share the love of Jesus with them. He is survived by his siblings James Gerber and Bill Gerber (Judy). John was predeceased by his wife Joanne nee Kinch, granddaughter (Cyra), his siblings; infant sister Shirley, Rosetta Hewitt (Frederick) Helen Knarr (Leonard), Gerald, Verne (Wendy) and Kenneth Gerber. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, November 26th, 2pm – 4 pm , and 7pm - 9pm at the Graham A. Giddy Funeral Home, 280 St. David Street South in Fergus, Ontario. Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, November 27th at 11:30 am at Elora Road Christian Fellowship, 5696 Wellington Rd 7, Guelph, ON N1H 6J2. A reception will be at the church. Internment at Belsyde Cemetery will follow. As expressions of sympathy, donations can be made to Teen Challenge or Elora Road Christian School.
