Obituary for John Bryan Dightam

Peacefully at home in his 82nd year, with his beloved wife Elaine by his side. Louise and Fiona’s (Michael) dad, granddad of Harley (Candice), Beau (Rebecca), Alexandra and Keldan, and great granddad of Ella, Mayzie and Kali.
John loved good food, a good Cabernet and good company. He will be remembered for his Tilley hat and his stories. The only child of Wilfred and Kitty Dightam, John was born in Yorkshire, served as a Corporal in the Royal Air Force, worked in the early days of television in Britain and at the CBC, and then as a pioneer in the computer industry. He was a talented writer, private pilot, Scrabble player and Blue Jays fan. Right up to his last months, John was planning the next adventure. He flew his family to Florida in a small plane, cottaged at Oxtongue Lake, camped, travelled all over North America in an RV and most recently, further afield on cruise ships.
Private cremation. Memorial service at The Church of St. John the Evangelist (Anglican), Elora on Sunday, June 25 at 2 pm, followed by a reception at the church. In lieu of flowers, donations welcome in John’s memory to the “St John’s Choir Fund” at: St. John’s Church, 36 Henderson St, Elora, Ontario, N0B 1S0.
