April 5, 1929 – December 23, 2010Passed away at home in his 82nd year. Loved husband of 51 years to Eleanor. Father of James Calder and his wife Dawn and children Victoria and Matthew. Anne Calder, Doug Calder and his wife Sandy, and children Sarah, Josh and Rebekah. Brother of Bob (Marjorie) Calder, four nephews and families in Greenville S.C. Predeceased by his sister Margaret (2003). John grew up and farmed at Carluke Ontario. Moved to the Belwood area in 1968. He was a hospice volunteer. Member of Belwood Lions Club, Seymour Masonic Lodge, Ancaster, Mercer Masonic Lodge Fergus and Royal Arch Masons, Guelph. John was also active in the Presbyterian Church. John has donated his body to science. Family will receive friends at the Graham A. Giddy Funeral Home, 280 St. David St. South in Fergus, on Wednesday, December 29th from 1-4 pm and 6-9 pm. A Masonic service will be held at the Funeral Home at 5:45 pm. A family celebration of John’s life will take place at a later date.
