The family of John Burns wishes to announce his passing on Sunday, February 24th, 2013.
John died peacefully at The Wellington Terrace in his 88th year. He will be greatly missed by his son, Ian Burns, daughter-in-law Virginia of Elora, Lorna Weber, son-in-law Darcy of Elmira and granddaughters Hilary and Lauren. John was predeceased by his wife Lorna (2001). John was an active member in his community and was past president of The Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 229, The Elora Lawn Bowling Club and past Master of the Irvine Masonic Lodge. Many friends and family members in Scotland will miss John very much. The family would like to thank the staff at Wellington Terrace for the wonderful care given to John over the last four years. We appreciate all that you have done. Visitation for John will be held at The Graham Giddy Funeral Home, Elora, from 12-2pm on Saturday March 2nd followed by the funeral service that will be held in the chapel at 2pm. The family has requested that donations be directed towards the Elora Legion “Poppy Fund”, The Wellington Terrace or The Parkinson Society.
