It is with great sadness that the Detta Family has to inform everyone that John Detta Senior passed away suddenly at his home in Erin on Sunday. The family wants to remember their dad and the good times they had as a family growing up. John grew up in the community of Deer Lake (Watenwile) Ont. and attended Lount Public School and South River High School. Loved son of Mary (nee: Brunner) and Lloyd Detta Sr. (deceased). Predeceased by his wife Jannette Isabelle Campbell. Survived by long time partner Margaret Deforest (and family). Will always be remembered by his children Lloyd Andrew, John Earl, David Owen, Donald Douglas and Lorri Ann Mae, as well as by his daughters-in-law Patricia Detta (Zevenbergen), Cheryl Wight, Candice Morley and son-in-law Darin Wight. Grandfather to Lindsay Patricia, Christopher Andrew James (KAJ), Rachel Janette, Matthew David, Honour Jannette, Haydyn Farquar, Hunter John Lloyd David, Brayden James and Luke Victor. John will be sadly missed by his sisters Shirley Detta of Owen Sound and Rheal Danis of Crystal Falls, brother George Johnston of Edmonton, Alberta as well as foster sister Christine Moore of Welland, foster brother, Robert Hiscott of High River, Alberta and sister Elaine Detta of North Bay. Visitation will be held on Thursday, February 21st, 2013 from 11:00-1:00 pm at the Graham A. Giddy Funeral Home & Chapel, 280 St. David St. South in Fergus. A funeral service will follow visitation in the funeral home chapel at 1:00 pm. A reception will follow at the Fergus Legion.
