Obituary for Joan McWilliam

On the morning of November 1, 2019, Joan McWilliam of Fergus, passed away with family by her side.

Joan is survived by her children Kelly Robertson (Carey Ogilvie), Karyn White (Martin), Kim McWilliam, Steve McWillaim (Claire), Pamela Hill (Cameron) and Dan McWilliam (Jennifer).
She was loving grandma to Andrew (Torey), Christopher, Bradley (Erin), Tristan, Aidan, James, Elizabeth, Alexander, Adam, Payton, Averie and Shea. And loving “GG” to Meredith, Jacob and Adia.

She was a good friend, sister, sister-in-law and aunt and will be missed by adoring nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. We will hold her strength and grace in our hearts.
She is preceded in death by her parents James and Beryl (Betty) Smith, loving husband John (Jock) McWilliam, brother James Smith and first husband Ross Robertson.

She worked at Bell Canada for 30 years and retired in 1996. Joan loved to garden, dance (clog), read and travel with her friends. She was an avid volunteer with Fergus’ Diggin’ in the Dirt, Groves Memorial Hospital, Elora Lawn Bowling and Elora Festival. She was an active member in her church and a part of the St. Andrew’s Women’s Auxillary. But most important to her was her family. She loved and cherished being a mom, stepmom, grandmother and great grandmother.
She was a selfless kind soul and will be missed by many.

Funeral services will be held at St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church, 325 St. George St. West in Fergus on Wednesday, November 6, 2019 at 2 pm. A reception will follow at the church.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to the Canadian Cancer Society, Groves Memorial Hospital or the charity of your choice would be gratefully received.
