Jo-Ann was always one to go the extra mile and help you if she could. This memory takes place about 14 years ago. It was a couple of days before Christmas and Jo-Ann was at my salon having her hair done. We were talking about Christmas plans and I was telling her how I really wanted to have a special Christmas Eve dinner for Rick and I because it was our first Christmas Eve as a married couple. I was explaining to her that I had wanted to make tortiere, because Rick's family is French-Canadian background and they often would have tortiere at Christmas. I was telling her that I was running out of time though because I was swamped in the salon and didn't know how I was going to pull it all off. She told me not to worry, that she was making tortiere for her family and that she would make an extra one for me. Of course I responded by telling her that she was busy enough with her work and not to worry. Her response was "it's no problem at all and I'm doing it!", followed by her hearty laugh! Sure enough the next day around 4:30-5:00, through the terrible stormy weather, there was David at my door, big smile on his face, with a freshly baked tortiere, homeade chutney and a salad. What a sweetheart Jo-Ann was! I will never forget her and the beautiful person she was both inside and out. xo Catherine
