Obituary for Jeffrey Markle

Surrounded by his family, Jeffrey Markle of Waterloo, Ontario passed away at home on July 29, 2021, at the age of 58 following a short battle with cancer.

Jeff met his soulmate, Sheri Markle (Faulds), in 1993 and they were married in 1996.

He and Sheri cultivated a loving family with two adored children, Erin and Ben. Together, they created a welcoming home – and safe space for friends and loved ones.

Entrepreneur, avid fisherman, and gifted (according to him) hockey player, Jeff will be remembered for his honesty, quick wit, charismatic smile, and dependability.

For more than a decade, Jeff worked in the geothermal field attaining an unparalleled knowledge of geothermal technology and making significant contributions to the industry.

In 2007, Jeff founded Markle Heating & Cooling, a flourishing Waterloo area business specializing in both commercial and residential heating and cooling systems. He built the business around open and honest relationships with his customers. One could always count on Jeff and his team with any last-minute service requests.

Jeff could also be found supporting many local breakfast and lunch establishments as these were always considered an important part of his workday.

In the winter you would find Jeff in the corner of a rink proudly cheering on Erin and Ben in their sporting endeavors or providing hockey tips to Erin’s boyfriend, Steve. He also maintained an up-to-date ranking of the top 5 snack bar French fries from across the province.

Jeff was a truth teller. He said it with startling brutality – often hilarious – but never self-serving – and always infused with a deep sense of justice. Generous, forthright, loyal, and supremely reliable, Jeff was the very definition of good friend and he will be missed by his numerous hockey teammates and the crew from the Sons of Bitches Motorcycle Club.

Jeff is survived by his in-laws Ian and Marlene Faulds, and his brother and sister-in-law, Chris and Jenn Faulds, all of Waterloo.

He is also survived by his siblings Karen Markle of Kemptville, Ontario; Ted Markle and Sue Brooker of Oro-Medonte, Ontario; and Laura Markle and Rick Coughlin of Halifax, NS. Jeff is also survived by his father, Bernard Markle of Kitchener, Ontario and his mother, Judy Oatway, of Kemptville, Ontario.

Jeff is also survived by a plethora of well-loved nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family and friends.

Jeff may be gone, but his spirit remains irreverent, indomitable, eternal.
