It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Jean Roy of Belwood on Wednesday April 24th, 2013 at Groves Memorial Hospital, Fergus. Born in Thetford Mines, Quebec, Jean was 85 years old. The loving and long-time husband of Kathleen (Kay) he is also survived by his stepson, Rod Piukkala (Linda), his grandson Jeff Piukkala (Melinda) and great grandchildren Tyler, Ella, Ryan and Claire Piukkala. Jean is also survived by his brothers, Lionel and Andre Roy, as well as their children in Quebec. He will be fondly remembered by close friends and associates in Pine Meadows and throughout Canada. Jean was predeceased by his stepson Dwayne Piukkala, his grandson Bryce Piukkala and his siblings Jeannine, Roger, Francoise and Claude Roy.The family wishes to pass on their special thanks to Dr. Doug Roach and the nursing staff at Groves Memorial Hospital, particularly those in the palliative care unit, for their assistance and kindness during Jean’s illness and recent admission.A memorial for family and friends was recently held at Giddy Funeral Homes in Fergus.
