Obituary for Jean Bernice Nicklasson (Miles)

Jean Bernice Nicklasson (née Miles) passed away peacefully at the Elliott Community Home in Guelph, after battling a long term illness, on November 1st, 2022 in her 80th year.

Jean was born March 5th, 1943 to the late William and Francis Miles. Beloved wife of Eric Thomas Nicklasson (predeceased 2022) for 59 years. Devoted Mother to Robert (Annette), William and Jim. The most loving Grandma of Brittani, Erick, Carson and Abby. Predeceased by her brothers; George and Bob Miles. Survived by sister-in-law Margo and her husband Jerry Billings, and many nephews and nieces.

Jean grew up on her family farm in Arthur, Ontario where she developed a passion for horses and was a part of 4-H Ontario. She married Tom in 1963 and moved to their home in Fergus, where they raised their family and lived for the next 59 years. She was a proud member of the Red Hat Society, an avid golfer (even getting a hole-in-one), a talented seamstress, and an incredible baker. Most of all, Jean will be remembered as an incredibly kind and caring person, who devoted herself to her family and her grandchildren. Jean will be forever missed and forever in hearts.

The family would like to extend their sincere gratitude and appreciation for the staff, nurses and PSW’s for the amazing and compassionate care Jean received over the last year at The Elliot Community Home.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, November 9, 2022 from 6–8 PM at the Graham A. Giddy Funeral Home in Fergus. A private interment will be held for the family.

As expressions of sympathy, donations may be made to Groves Memorial Hospital Foundation, in Jean’s memory.
