Obituary for Janet Louise Oakman

It is with the heaviest of hearts that we announce the life completed of Janet Oakman, grandparent, mother and beloved spouse. She died peacefully in the loving arms of her husband Dave on July 11, 2021 at Hospice Wellington. She was surrounded by her children Brad (Jane) & Lisa (Ray) and her 3 amazing granddaughters Marley, Lily and Grace.

Janet was born in Palmerston, Ontario on August 26, 1952 to Pud and Audrey Miller. She married Dave Oakman on November 26, 1971 and together they raised their family in Hamilton, Ont where she worked as a Payroll Analyst at Chedoke-McMaster Hospitals until she retired early to move to Elora to spend more time with her best friends and sisters Dianne and Chris and husbands Neil Wilson and Bill Barnes. She is remembered lovingly by her sister in law Lynda and husband Paul Jamieson and brother in laws Danny Oakman and Eric. Janet loved her husband, children, grandchildren and her many nieces & nephews fiercely. She made friends everywhere that she went and her golf and curling friends are some of the best!

To be forever remembered for her courage and positive approach battling the disease that ultimately took her, too soon, from friends and family.

May the memory of her smile live on in the memories of those she has touched.

Visitation services to be held on Friday July 16, 2021 at the Graham A. Giddy Funeral Home in Elora from 2 – 5 pm and from 6 – 8 pm. Memorial contributions to Hospice Wellington or Enbridge Ride to Conquer Cancer (Lisa Brown) would be appreciated by the family.

No RSVP is required. Guests MUST continue to adhere to social distancing guidelines and MUST wear a mask or face covering at all times.
