Obituary for James Vet

Passed away at Groves Memorial Hospital on Saturday, March 20, 2010, James Vet in his 91st year. A long-time resident of Fergus and beloved husband for 67 years of Marion (Adams). Loved father and father-in-law of Ann & David Graham and Robert & Jane Vet. Proud and fun-loving Gramps of Janna, Rebecca & Allan, Phillip & Carm, Paul, and Adam & Robyn. Great grandfather of wee Hunter Graham. Brother of Trudy Masson and the late Clara Golightly, Yan and Peter Vet. Brother-in-law of Florence Fuller and Dave & Marian Adams, and the late Ted Fuller, Janella & Charlie Mallett, and Beth & Dunc McArthur. A lover of family and tulips, of walking and woodworking, of knowledge and reading, of lawn bowling and laughter. An experienced practical joker. A dedicated member of Melville United Church and the Masonic Lodge. Following a Masonic service at 6:45, visitation will be held at the Giddy Funeral Home, 280 St. David St, Fergus, on Tuesday, March 23 from 7:00-9:00 pm. Funeral service on Wednesday, March 24 at 2:00 pm at Melville United Church. Interment following at Belsyde Cemetery. Reception to follow at Heritage River Retirement Residence. Heartfelt thanks to Dr. F. Bismillah, the caring nurses of Groves Memorial Hospital and the residents and staff of Heritage River. Donations in lieu of flowers may be made to Melville United Church, or in accordance with Jim's love of reading, in the form of a book donation to the Fergus Public Library.
