At Groves Memorial Community Hospital, late in the evening of July 13, 2011, James passed away surrounded by the family he loved. James was the beloved son of Douglas and Bronwyn Hill, loved and respected brother of Carolyn, and Lorraine Hill Avendano and her husband Jose Luis. He was proud of his niece Kate, and his nephews Matthew, Dustin and Ryan. As a professional musician who worked on cruise ships around the world for almost 20 years, he acquired a host of dear friends, who have supported him through his long battle with cancer, and who have indicated that they will miss him dearly. Included in this list is his ex-wife Ellen, who flew from LA to be with him. James is predeceased by his grandparents, Joe and Flossie Hill, and Mal and Eileen Allen. Visitation will be held at the Graham Giddy Funeral Home, 37 Church St. East in Elora, on Saturday July 16, 2011 from 7-9 PM, and Sunday July 17, 2011 from 2-4 and 7-9 PM. Funeral will be conducted at the Elora United Church, 75 Geddes Street in Elora on Monday July 18 at 2 PM with Reverend Greg Smith-Young officiating.
