Obituary for Ivan Clifford Williams

Ivan Clifford Williams
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Ivan Clifford Williams on October 30, 2014 at Groves Memorial Hospital in Fergus, Ontario at the age of 69 after a brief illness. Ivan will be tremendously missed by his sister Wendy Williams, brother-in-law, David Dautovich, nephew Misha and niece Jasmine as well as his brother Douglas Williams. Ivan was born on February 16, 1945 to his loving parents Irene and Clifford Williams. He lived with them until at the age of 7 when his care outgrew their abilities to provide, so under the urging of the family doctor he was taken to the first of three institutions that would become his home for many decades. However, we can say without a doubt that the very best years of his life started the day he moved to his beloved Group home on Watt Street in Fergus. There are not enough words to express our gratitude for the exceptional love, care, support and friendship the staff of Community Living Guelph Wellington; Watt Street Home, The Fergus Day Program (Base) where day programs and social events are held, the wonderful folks and businesses, such as Jerry from “I Love Chocolate” and churches in Fergus have provided over the many years. Ivan was lucky enough to have lived in this warm community. Ivan will always be remembered for his sweet personality, love of people, music, singing, harmonica, laughter, church songs and stories. How do you define the ideal man? He always has a song in his heart or on the tip of his tongue, he brightens your day as soon as you see him, he loves to dress dapper with his favorite neck-tie matching his shirt and pants & belt, always freshly shaved and well groomed with a splash of cologne, always loves whatever you cook for him …… especially pie, always happy to meet everyone and even though he was blind since birth he would tell us all how we looked beautiful today. He loved his friends, staff and family and appreciated everything that was done for him with hugs and kisses and thanks. That was our Ivan. Ivan will be honoured with a Service led by Pastor Tony Albano of Grace Christian Fellowship at The Fergus Day Program (Base) located at 280 St. Patrick Street West, Fergus on Saturday, November 8, 2014 starting at 2:00pm followed by “A Celebration of Life” and refreshments. In lieu of flowers if you wish to make a contribution in honour of Ivan Williams to Community Living Guelph Wellington or The Heart & Stroke Foundation it would be a lovely tribute. www.grahamgiddyfh.com 519 843 3100
