Passed away peacefully, on Wednesday, January 5, 2011 at Groves Memorial Community Hospital in Fergus. Hugh Shantz, 87 years of age, was the beloved husband of the late Marion Crawford (Smith) for 63 years. He was the loving father of John Shantz (Janis), Susan Fife (Tom Stapleton), Kathryn Giffen (Peter) and the late Frederick Shantz (1976). Hugh was the dear grandfather of Allison Koebel (Chris), April Martin (Nevin), Jonathan Passy (Jennifer) and Stephen Passy (Carl); great grandfather of Justin, Ashley, Shawn, Kara, Dylan, Crawford and Abigail. Hugh is survived by his sister Miriam Butler (Howard) and is predeceased by his sister Patricia and his brother Frederick. Memorial Service for Hugh will be celebrated at the Graham A. Giddy Funeral Home & Chapel, 280 St. David St. South in Fergus, on Friday, January 7th, 2011 at 3:00pm, with visitation 1 hour prior to service Interment of cremated remains at Memory Gardens, Breslau at a later date.
